Ride in support of Canadian Physicians for Aid and Relief!
CPAR works in partnership with health professionals, vulnerable communities and governments to build health systems capacity in Sub-Saharan Africa. Founded by Canadian doctors in response to famine in Ethiopia, CPAR has improved the health of vulnerable communities in Sub-Saharan Africa since 1984. Our projects have helped increase food security and improve nutrition, strengthened livelihoods, provided access to clean water, improved sanitation and hygiene, and provided emergency aid.
CPAR currently works in Ethiopia and Malawi. Through our programming, CPAR supports the achievement of the Global Goals for Sustainable Development through programming that: (1) improves health systems capacity, and (2) addresses the determinants of health that may also impact the health of the communities in which we are working (food security and nutrition, clean water, sanitation and hygiene, sustainable livelihoods).
Due to the current global pandemic, our focus has shifted to projects focused on sanitation, handwashing, and hygiene sensitization. We are also working with a rural hospital in Ethiopia to provide much needed resources such as personal protective equipment and e-learning modules to help prepare the staff for COVID-19. We are hoping to raise as much money as possible to help fund our COVID-19 prevention efforts in Ethiopia and Malawi.
