Severe Thunderstorm Warning – Jackson, Limestone, Madison Until 2:30 a.m.: The Alabama Weather Blog


The National Weather Service in Huntsville, Alabama, has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for several areas in northern Alabama and southern Tennessee. The warning includes:

Western Jackson County in northeastern Alabama
Madison County in north-central Alabama
Limestone County in north-central Alabama
Southeastern Lincoln County in Middle Tennessee
Southwestern Franklin County in Middle Tennessee
This warning is in effect until 2:30 a.m. CDT.

As of 1:28 a.m. CDT, there was a severe thunderstorm near Athens, moving east at 40 mph. This storm brings significant hazards, including 60 mph wind gusts and quarter-sized hail, as indicated by radar. These conditions are expected to cause hail damage to vehicles and wind damage to roofs, siding and trees.

Hazel Green
Owens Crossroads

Safety Precautions: For your safety, it is advised that you go to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building to stay safe from the high winds and possible hail.
