Robert Carson Obituary – CA


Carson, Robert Steve, passed away on Thursday, December 31, 2009 at his home in Anaheim, CA, surrounded by his family, after a lengthy battle with lung cancer. Steve was born on January 30, 1934 in Carnesville, Georgia, the son of Jesse M. Carson and Jimmie (DeFoor) Carson. He grew up in Americus, Georgia and graduated from Americus High School in 1952. Shortly after graduating, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and spent the next ten years as an aviation electrician on aircraft carriers, primarily in the Mediterranean. After his Navy service, he returned to Georgia and then migrated to Illinois, where he joined Barber-Greene Company in Aurora. He married Nancy Perschnick on September 12, 1964. Steve and Nancy moved to Anaheim in 1965, where he worked as a parts and service manager before starting a small printing business with his wife. Steve retired in 2004. Steve is survived by his wife Nancy and two daughters, Julie Carson of Anaheim and Jean (Jason) O’Donnell of Beaverton, OR. He is also survived by a sister, Ann Carr of Victorville, CA, along with numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Steve was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and one sister. Hilgenfeld Mortuary is in charge of funeral arrangements. The viewing will take place on January 10 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Hilgenfeld Mortuary. Graveside services will be held at Riverside National Cemetery on January 11 at 11am.
