Meet Colter’s sister Dr. Dory Shaw

Follower is in its first season and this week’s episode looks to be big, especially when it introduces us to Colter Shaw’s sister! Could she hold the key to Colter’s search for answers to his past?

Follower has worked mainly on CBS thanks to the “one and done” episodes as Colter Shaw goes to another place to help someone in need and then moves on. So in episode 10, Colter helped his lawyer friend Reenie find a father and daughter whose plane had crashed in the woods.

Of course, it couldn’t be that simple, as Colter discovered it was linked to smuggling and a Russian assassin. Ultimately, he managed to save everyone and take down the killer, with Reenie seeing a small action and helping.

Colter is still haunted by the discovery that his father, who he always thought was just a college professor who snapped and took the family “off the grid,” was actually a government contractor. It has made him wonder if there was more to his father’s death (seemingly at the hands of Colter’s own brother) than met the eye. Now an unlikely family reunion will provide possible answers.

The synopsis for the May 5 episode “Beyond the Campus Walls” shows Colter visiting the college where his sister Dory works to track down a missing student.

“When a graduate student goes missing after a house party, his friends and family think he has succumbed to the pressure of his research grant. But after consulting with his sister Dr. Dory Shaw (Melissa Roxburgh), a professor at the school, Colter discovers a trail of explicit photos and messages that lead him to uncover a dangerous – and deadly – conspiracy on campus.”

Dory is played by Melissa Roxburgh, best known as Michela on the NBC/Netflix series Manifesto. She has the skills to take on the role of a professor who may not be as action-oriented as Colter, but is still pretty badass. A promo clip from TVLine shows that Dory is less interested in finding out what happened to their father than in making sure she doesn’t follow their parents’ path of “going crazy.”

The main mystery revolves around Colter looking for that missing child, with Dory helping. The promo indicates that, like any other Follower In this case, there is more to the disappearance than meets the eye, and it wouldn’t be a shock if the colleges were somehow involved in the illegal activities taking place.

The real reason to tune in will be the dynamic between Colter and Dory. It will be fun to see the two siblings interact and Dory will likely shed more light on Colter and how he came to be this way. She may also hold the key to the mystery of their father that seems to be building up for the season 1 finale.

It’s unlikely that Dory will be a regular character, although it’s a safe bet that she’ll be a recurring character who pops up every now and then. This comes after reports that Jennifer Morrison will guest star in the season 1 finale as a figure from Colter’s past, promising some fun.

With a great guest star and more insights into Colter’s past, this episode could be a key one Follower fans and another sign of how it became such a hit.

Follower airs Sundays at 9/8c on CBS.
