A fatal bus crash leaves one dead when driver loses control on I-95

BELAIR, MD – A fatal bus crash early today in Harford County is under investigation by Maryland State Police. One person has been confirmed dead and several others injured after a bus carrying 24 passengers crashed into a guardrail on northbound I-95.

The incident occurred shortly after 6 a.m. when state troopers were dispatched from the JFK Memorial Highway Barrack to the crash site at mile marker 77. Preliminary findings suggest the bus lost control for reasons yet to be determined. The deceased was pronounced dead at the scene, while several injured passengers were taken to Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center.

The crash closed all northbound lanes of I-95 near the incident area. Multiple law enforcement agencies, including Bel Air Barrack, Maryland Transportation Authority Police and the Harford County Sheriff’s Office, are on the scene. The Maryland State Police Crash Team is leading the detailed investigation.

The MDOT State Highway Administration is assisting on scene and motorists are advised to seek alternate routes during the ongoing investigation. So far, no charges have been filed in connection with the crash.
