Now that the weather is warming up, you may be looking for things to do with the kids. If you have a skateboarder at home (or maybe even a roller skater), you might be happy to hear that a skate park is officially opening soon in Portsmouth, New Hampshire.

According to their Facebook page, there will be an official ribbon cutting ceremony at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 18 at the park at 979 Greenland Road in Portsmouth, New Hampshire.

Skatepark etiquette

The park is suitable even for young riders. They have safety procedures in place, which are described in this video.

Generation X grew up with Tony Hawk

My generation grew up with Tony Hawk. As far as I know he is the greatest skateboarder in the world. This is a timeline of his career:

As he says in this video, the first time he ever went to a skate park he saw people flying out of pools and flying through the air, and he knew that was what he wanted to do for the rest of his life. He was able to build a career doing what he loved most.

Tony was always trying to improve his skating and be the best he could be on the board, as you can hear in the YouTube video. They called him the ‘circus skater’ because of the tricks he did. He turned pro at the age of 14. At the age of 16, he was considered the greatest skater in the world.

Maybe you or your child will become the next Tony Hawk?
