Obituary of George Konn Sr. -Naperville


George G. Konn Sr. 73 A lifelong resident of Naperville, passed away at home on May 8, 2024 under the loving care of his wife and children. Survived by: His wife Sandy of 47 years, the love of his life. Daughter: Verna Lynn (Craig) Johansson, Son: George Jr.: Cherished granddaughters Cassandra and Ruby. Loving brother Michael Konn and Richard Konn: father-in-law and father-in-law Verna and Ed Tomas, brother-in-law Michael (Becky) Pippenger and Ed (Maggie) Johnson. Also numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Preceded in death by: Parents: George and Ruth Konn: Sister Pamela: Grandparents Fred and Henrietta Brockmann: Fathers-in-law James Brandt and Rodney Pippenger. George graduated from Naperville Community High School in 1968. He was also a proud member of the Automobile Mechanics Union 701. He began his career with Egizio Chevrolet in 1969, which became Gerald Oldsmobile in 1981, and continued his career until his retirement. George and Sandy enjoyed traveling to St. Ignace, Michigan, in the Upper Peninsula, every summer to relax. Sandy and her children would like to express their appreciation to all the caring, compassionate friends, family and neighbors who supported their loved one during his 15-month journey. A visitation for George will be held on Friday, May 17, 2024 from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Zelfelman-Kunsch Funeral Homes & Crematory, 516 S. Washington St., Naperville, IL. A chapel service will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. at the funeral home, followed by burial in Naperville Cemetery.
