EXCELLENCE IN EDUCATIONAL EVENTS MAKES MONDAYS SPECIAL

The Indiana County Chamber of Commerce’s “Excellence in Education” event tomorrow night is so big that the schedule has been changed for some area school boards so people can attend. The Marion Center school board meeting has been canceled. Purchase Line’s has been postponed until Tuesday. And Indiana Area has canceled the Policy and Personnel Committee meeting.

Just two days after Governor Josh Shapiro delivered remarks at the IUP commencement, Lt. Governor Austin Davis will be in Indiana to deliver remarks as the keynote speaker at the Chamber event at KCAC. Former Pittsburgh Penguin Tyler Kenney will also speak Monday night, and 56 students and eight teachers from the county’s school districts and ICTC will be honored. One student and one teacher will receive a brand new car courtesy of the Colonial Family of Dealers, and the United Way of Indiana County will award scholarships to a student from each district, plus a scholarship for the most philanthropic teacher and student.
