Maine police say a body has been found in the Penobscot River in Greenbush


An investigation is underway after a body was found in the Penobscot River in Greenbush.

The identity of the deceased is unknown

The identity of the deceased has not been released.

The body was found in Greenbush

Sunday afternoon at approximately 2:15 p.m., a report of a deceased person in the Penobscot River was received at the Penobscot County Regional Communications Center. Officials say the body was found along the main road in Greenbush. Members of the Penobscot County Sheriff’s Office, Maine Warden Service and Maine State Police responded to the area and recovered the body from the waterway.

The victim was transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Augusta as per protocol. It is expected that more information will be released as the investigation continues.

No comment on whether the body is a missing local man

The Penobscot County Sheriff’s Office is asking for information about Jeremy Hill, 47, of Greenbush, who has been missing for several weeks. Officials did not comment on whether the body found Sunday was Hill.
