Maine Police Charge 2nd Person in Massive Biddeford Fentanyl Ring

A Biddeford woman is the second person charged in connection with the seizure of 7 pounds of fentanyl.

The second person arrested is also charged with aggravated trafficking in fentanyl

Alyssa Staples, 23, of Biddeford is charged with unlawful aggravated trafficking in fentanyl. Previously arrested in the case was Almuntadhar M. Mohammed, who faces multiple charges of aggravated trafficking in fentanyl. The charge was upgraded to aggravated due to the total drug weight and firearm possession.

A search of the couple’s Biddeford home turned up 7 pounds of fentanyl and weapons

The charges stem from an eight-month investigation into fentanyl trafficking in southern Maine. As part of the investigation, several undercover purchases of fentanyl were made by drug agents in both Cumberland and York counties. Officials searched Mohammed’s apartment on Ray Street in Biddeford and seized more than 7 pounds of fentanyl, a loaded firearm and other items related to drug trafficking.

Staples was also arrested based on evidence seized during the May 1 search warrant in Biddeford. Mohammed and Staples are in a domestic relationship and live together. Ms. Staples was charged by summons for an initial hearing in July.
