Minnesota sports fans optimistic thanks to recent success by Timberwolves, Twins

MINNEAPOLIS— The excitement for Wolves fans is palpable, just like them through to the second round of the play-offs for the first time in twenty years.

Wolf fandom is now reflected on canvas, thanks to local artist Adam Johnson. Johnson’s painting of Naz Reid got some love from X of Reid, who received his own copy of the art.

On Saturday, Wolves fever spread to the Colorwheel Gallery in Minneapolis, where the artist dropped off free Reid posters for fans.

“It’s a great group with great chemistry, so I’m really excited about the series,” said Sarah Hargadon of Minnetonka.

It’s not just the Wolves who are providing optimism in Minnesota right now. With the Minnesota Twins now win a dozen games in a row, and even the Vikings, who drafted a Michigan star quarterback JJ McCarthyIf anything, local sports fandom is at a fever pitch right now.

“I feel very good. I think it’s just a really exciting time,” Hargadon said.

“It’s hard to be hopeful with all the scar tissue, but things are looking good, which is always fun to monitor,” said Charlie Wenner of Eden Prairie.

Despite two decades of limited success, fans said they had high hopes for a strong postseason run for the Wolves.

“If they can beat Denver, which I think they will, then I think they’ll make it to the finals,” Hargadon said.

“They looked really good, so hopefully they can keep this up. There’s no reason to doubt it unless you see something different,” Wenner said.

“Oh another sweep, yeah sure why not, I mean Denver is good, but we are better, and we have Anthony Edwards, they don’t,” said Wolves fan Jamie Hoekstra.
